Made in Ross on The Move

by Frances Warren

Made in Ross, the arts and crafts gallery on the upper floor of the historic Market House in the centre of Ross on Wye is moving!

Ross Town Council has secured funding for renovations to the Market House, built in 1650 and listed as an Ancient Monument. While the renovations are carried out, the building will be closed for 6 months. During this time “Made in Ross” will be relocating to The Corn Exchange, 100 yards along the High Street. Although not as old as the Market House, the Corn Exchange also has a fascinating history, having been built as Market and Assembly Room in 1862. It is now a Grade II listed Building.

“Made in Ross “is a co-operative of talented local artists and craft makers. It was set up in May 2015 as a unique collaborative venture between Hereford’s centre for the arts, The Courtyard and Ross Town Council. The success of this business model has led to it being rolled out to other areas. We offer a diverse wide range of affordable items ranging from cards to large paintings and sculptures. Current work on display includes glass by Lisa Coles and Frances Warren, mosaics by Rosie Callinan and Catherine Van Giap, photographic works by Jane Simmonds and Gabriel Parfitt, silks and textiles by Jan Matthews and Susan White, prints by Tara Slater, silver jewellery by Chris Champness and Jackie Poulter and greenwood carvings by Eleanor Kercher.

“Made in Ross’ ‘ will remain in the Market House until the 10th March, open daily from 10 am to 4pm. From Monday 18th March we will reopen in The Corn Exchange, with our usual hours of 10am – 4pm.

We are planning a Grand Launch Party in The Corn Exchange on Saturday 23rd March. Please do come along on the Daffodil Line and join us for fun and festivities in our new location.
