What if our villages could generate their own renewable energy, and keep the benefits local? On March 4th, residents of Dymock and Bromesberrow have a chance to shape what that future could look like at a community workshop hosted by Forest of Dean Community Action on Power (FoDCAP), Forest of Dean District Council, Forest Community Energy, and the Centre for Sustainable Energy.
Rising energy costs are hitting rural communities hard – we can’t always access the cheapest tariffs, and many of us are off the gas grid entirely. And while locally owned renewable energy like solar panels or wind turbines could be part of the solution, getting it right matters.
Community energy means locally owned installations where profits go toward reducing bills, funding village facilities, or supporting local projects. But it only works if it’s in the right places, brings genuine benefits to local residents, and has community support from the start.
This community workshop aims to hear directly from residents. Its isn’t experts telling you what’s best – it’s for local people having a genuine say in decisions that affect our areas. Whether you’re enthusiastic about renewable energy, concerned about visual impact, curious about lower bills, or somewhere in between – your voice matters. It will be a genuine conversation about whether community energy makes sense here, and if so, what it should look like. No technical knowledge needed, just bring your thoughts.
