About The Daffodil Line

In 2022 our local bus services were cut back dramatically, leaving many people without a way to get around. In country towns and villages like ours, that loss runs deep. Without buses, people struggle to get to work, school, shops, and medical appointments. Neighbours in nearby counties become harder to reach, and visitors have fewer ways to explore our beautiful countryside. For many, the absence of public transport means isolation and fewer opportunities to connect.

We knew that wasn’t the future we wanted for our communities and something needed to be done. So we did it.

We took our inspiration from local transport pioneers of the past. When our communities wanted to be part of the new “railway age” back in the 1880’s local companies got together to build the “Daffodil Line” railway which carried local people between our towns and villages, and took our famous wild daffodils on the first leg of their journey to market in London and Birmingham.

Fast forward to 2022 , and history repeated itself. The Buses4Us Community Action Group was formed – a collaboration of local people, councils, and businesses who came together to create a new Daffodil Line for a new era.

We raised start-up funding, designed routes and timetables, and set affordable fares to ensure that everyone could ride. The result? A community-run bus service that reconnects our towns and villages, welcomes visitors to explore our countryside, and helps protect our environment by reducing car journeys.

Good public transport is essential for a fairer, greener, future, and we’re proud to be a part of that.

If everyone who lives along the Daffodil Line takes the bus just once a month we’ll never be at risk of losing this vital connection between our communities again.

So, jump on board and enjoy the ride!
