Can you help us welcome visitors to Newent?
Newent is a beautiful town. But the central car park, where our buses arrive, is a long way from lovely. As a “gateway” to the town it does Newent no justice at all.
So we are very excited to be working as part of a team with town, county and district councils and a whole host of community groups on a project which we all hope will transform this space – and we need your help.
We have received legacy funding very generously donated in memory of Newent resident Gary James Vaughan who passed away last year to design and create a “Welcome to Newent” sign,
We’re looking for a fresh new design for the Welcome to Newent sign – and we want YOUR ideas!
Whether you’re a budding artist, a creative student, or just someone who loves our town, this is your chance to make your mark.
Theme: Community, Heritage, and Hope for the Future
Open to: People who live, work, study or volunteer in the parish of Newent.
Your Design MUST :
Include the words “Welcome to Newent”
Include a badge/logo/emblem or coat of arms which may be used in other situations around the town and digitally.
Be either Square OR Circular
Be 2 Dimensional (3d designs will not be judged)
Prize: The winning design will be used for the official town welcome sign and receive a special award, and a £500 voucher of their choice towards art, craft, creative or design equipment/software.
Deadline: Midnight 1st December 2025
How to Enter: Submit your design as a jpeg, png or pdf file via email to community@buses4us.org. along with a short explanation (max 150 words) of what inspired your concept. Please include your name and address. (Please keep your original design safe)
Competition Terms & Conditions
Eligibility: The competition is open to all residents of Newent and a 5 mile radius. Entries from individuals under 16 must include consent from a parent or guardian.
Design Requirements:
Designs must be original and created by the entrant.
The design should reflect the values, heritage, and welcoming spirit of Newent.
Entries must be submitted in Square or Circle, either digital or as a scanned copy of hand-drawn work.
Submission:
All entries must be submitted by Midnight 1st December 2025.

Judging & Selection:
A panel of local judges will review all entries based on creativity, relevance, and visual impact.
The decision of the judges is final.
The winning design will be used as the official “Welcome to Newent” sign and may be used in other places.
The winner will receive a £500 voucher for art or design supplies, along with a commemorative certificate.
The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Usage Rights:
By entering, you give Buses4us permission to use, reproduce, and modify your design for public display and promotional use.
All intellectual property rights for the winning design are transferred to Buses4Us CIC.
Data Protection:
Personal data will only be used for competition purposes and will not be shared with third parties.
