Autumn Nature and Harvests
Buses provide a place and a means for us to chat and connect with each other and the countryside around us, and I have found that one of the other best ways of connecting with the countryside is actually by eating it!

Newent’s much-missed Good News Centre Cafe has reopened as the Ark Cafe with the same warm welcome, fabulous food and drink, and new children’s play areas indoors and out, including soft play and a sensory room.
I met Nell Credland, sheep breeder and knitter, with her knitting friends at the Hellens Textile Fair in July this year and was excited to buy wool locally grown to knit an Icelandic Jumper. Some of you will know these cost upwards of £350, and many of us have wanted one ever since seeing Scandi Noir drama, where fearless and beautiful women detectives, solve impossible and awful crimes, wearing Icelandic jumpers.

The annual Newent Art Competition, organised by Hannah Ferguson of the Secret Gallery, has been bringing together local artists and art lovers for eight years now. It’s a fabulous celebration of local creativity and colour and this year’s competition was one of the best.

The Daffodil Line £6, hop-on, hop-off Day Tripper Ticket allows you to spend all day exploring down the line. Why not grab a Day Tripper Ticket and take a look at some of the highlights of the FarOpen Art Trail, this year running from 1st to 9th July?
Two miles west of Newent on the way to Gorsley in the Ross direction, the Kilcot Inn is one of the closest pubs to the route of the Daffodil Line – the bus stops are right outside the pub car park, on both sides of the road. A pleasant and carefully restored building originating in the 17th Century, it has a characterful bright interior.
